The longer I am in “Mommy World” the more amazing things I find online that would have been perfect baby registry items. Many things that I thought would have been great were actually useless and many things that I never knew existed are now things I wouldn’t want to live without. I wanted to share a few really cool items with you so that you at least will know they exist, maybe they will even make your life with a new baby easier and more enjoyable.

1.Cloth Diapers: Had I known that the cloth diapers of today are not the cloth diapers of yesteryear, I would have hopped on board from the beginning. There are so many different brands and so many different options that it really blows my mind that more people don’t use them. With cloth diapers there is a big up front cost, but you save literally thousands of dollars in the long run. If you register for them, the savings could be even more! Here is a link to a helpful series by Simple Mom on Cloth Diapering 101.

2.European Baby Tubs: Babies are so hard to bathe! I was always worried about Elliot either slipping or being too cold. We tried many different bathing methods from the bathroom sink, to a traditional baby bath, to a foam pad in the bottom of the tub, to the kitchen sink. Then I heard about these European style baby tubs. They are like buckets except smooth and rounded. The purpose is to keep the baby completely warm in the bath water while creating a comfortable experience for the mamma as well. By the time I found out about them it was too late for it to be worth it, so I just used a bucket I had around the house. -It really was nice! He just sat there in the bath water nice and warm and it took up a lot less space on the counter. Mine of course was terribly makeshift and didn’t keep Elliot in the best position all the time, but it sufficed. My next baby will definitely be experiencing one of these bucket/pod/womb-like tubs!

3.Zipper Crib Sheets: Ok, if you have ever had a baby you will second my plea for an easier crib sheet! It is so ridiculously hard to change the sheet on your crib mattress and unfortunately you have to do it so often. Well, I stumbled upon this little ingenious idea while browsing cloth diaper web sites. It is a crib sheet that zips on and off.... can I get an AMEN? All you have to do is zip the top layer on and off every time you need to change it. No more wrestling with the mattress or untying all of those little ribbons on your bumper every time you need to get to the mattress! Just a zip and you are done. The person who came up with this sheet needs a medal... I think I will make her one myself...
Do you have any suggestions for a baby registry? Something that other mommies might not know about? Leave it in the comment section for all to see!
